OUTBACK to RED GUM COUNTRY

We left Bourke and headed towards Cobar. It was a sad time in Cobar, one of its pubs had burnt down and a fire fighter was killed fighting the fire. Stayed 2 days. Headed through western NSW - Hillston, Lake Cargellico, Griffith - back down to "Red Gum Country" on the Murray River.

ISISFORD, BLACKALL, AUGATHELLA, CHARLEVILLE - CENTRAL WEST QLD

Stopped at a bush camp outside Isisford, another struggling outback town. It is so sad to see so many businesses closed all over this region.

It's a "Furphy".

For all those lovers of nostalgia..........Augathella QLD, the town where that classic Aussie movie "Smiley" was made.

Camped at a beaut spot beside river. A great little town.

Camels in the main street of Charleville.

Rain predicted for 3 days, bunkered in. Heading south in a few days.

CENTRAL WEST QLD

From Biloela we headed further north west stopping at some beaut camp sites, small lonely one pub towns, Baralaba, Blackwater surrounds, and then moved on to Emerald.

Road to Bedford Weir outside Blackwater

Blackdown Tableland

Lorikeets a plenty at Emerald.

Leaving Emerald, Drummond Range on the way to Jericho.

One of many cemeteries on side of road.

Taking a walk besides the river at Jericho.

Here's one for the "true believers". The "Tree of Knowledge" at Barcaldine. What a monument this is.

Barcaldine was a top town and we enjoyed our stay here.

 3 pubs in main street.

Town centre with workers museum behind clock tower.

Headed out to Aramac for a drive. Very dry, road kill everywhere.

Camped at Barcaldine Showgrounds. Emus decided to join us at breakfast, so too the thirsty cockatoo.

View from the loo

 Full moon over the Chookpen

Leaving for Longreach  and surrounds tomorrow. Although it is dry and dusty in these parts, we are loving it at this time of the year.
