We set ourselves a task to be in Tweed Heads NSW in 12 days to surprise Kim's sister Robyn on her 60th birthday. It was a drive of some 3500 kms from Kununurra across the NT and central QLD, travelling via Katherine down to Tennant Creek, across to Camooweal down through Mount Isa, Longreach, Roma, Toowoomba to the Tweed. We teamed up with some travelling buddies of ours, Suzanne & Owen, and proceeded to have a fun filled journey stopping at some wonderful outback pubs along the way.
Mataranka NT. Home of the movie "We of the Never Never" and some wonderful hot springs to ease your weary bones.

This little fella made himself right at home
The pink pub - Larrimah NT

Daly Waters Pub NT. We teamed up with our neighbours on all fronts for a fantastic night. We all enjoyed beef, barra and hangovers.

Glad we missed this flight

The distances you had to drive to get a beer.
What a great little place Yaraka was. Once thriving sheep country now in the grip of drought. The pub even took us on a sunset tour to Mt Slowcombe.
Views from Mt Slowcombe overlooking town site and surrounds

After this it was back to the pub and the open fire. Beautiful!!!!!

On the road again and we travelled down the "yellow brick road".

A rainbow greeted us upon arrival at Robyn's.
