TRAVELLING TASSIE

We have made it to Hobart and have settled in at the showgrounds for Xmas and New Year. We have travelled to the city  a bit but have mainly been doing the odd day trip touring the surrounding areas. We are sure you have heard stories about the weather in Tassie well here it is, snow on Mount Wellington, Hobart, 12/12/2005. (view from the loo)

Already a favourite eatery of ours at Battery Point........magnificent scallop pies.

Below, trip out to the village of Richmond, about 40kms from Hobart.

Old Richmond Gaol

We caught the ferry over to Bruny Island. Beautiful!!!

Pole marks the spot where Captain Cook landed in 1770.

Nearly ran over this little baby

Hobart Royal Botanical Gardens

Vegetation from Macquarie Island Antartica (it was cold in there)

This is how they build in Hobart

View across the river to MONA( Museum of Old and New Art) from the showgrounds.

A visit to MONA is a must. What an amazing place this is. The exhibitions were really out there. In spite of Kel's homophobia and philistine outlook, we both really enjoyed the experience. The building inside and out is fantastic. It also has its own vineyard and micro brewery.

75 in a row.......you work it out

 Word changing water fountain

Opossum Bay

70 Mile Beach.....no we have not been for a swim yet.

Fun and games with neighbours in "the Chookshed"(yes it really is the cookshed at showtime)

Joe's Garage in Hobart....a rev-heads paradise. You would not believe what is in there.

A first for Kel & Kim...... Big Bash League at Bellrieve Oval.........go the Hurricanes

We wish everyone a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

  1. Some great pics there Kim (presumably). You should print some of them for next years Christmas cards.Really liked some of the Botanical Gardens ones, especially the waterwheel one. Tassie looks like you have travelled back in a time machine.
Belated Happy New Year from R & R.
