THE ROAD TO CANBERRA

We left Parkes after a fantastic week, destination Canberra. Eugowra was a typical little town like so many we are seeing in western NSW........struggle street. We were amazed to find another town featuring street murals and the butcher, beautiful snags.

Cowra was a beaut town on the banks of the Lachlan River. It was the site of the largest prisoner of war breakout in modern military history, when more than a thousand Japanese prisoners staged a mass breakout in August 1944. Amazing piece of Aussie history.

The World Peace Bell in the main street

We visited the Japanese Gardens

 Wow, it was hot!!!!!!

You can take a walk around the remains of the POW camp

and visit the Japanese War Cemetery

Carcoar was an amazing historical village. It was like time had stood still.

They made the "Peter Allen" story in the village

Fantastic toy museum
