A LITTLE BIT OF TASSIE

It was back to Hobart to celebrate Australia Day. A lunchtime BBQ at the Showgrounds was followed by a pub crawl through the City. A top day and night.

We thought it was cold but our neighbours, well...............

Through the midlands we travelled, right up to George Town on the north coast.

How's this for a view. Caught up with friends, camped at the Pier Hotel and suffered waking up and going to bed looking at below for a week.

Fish feeding frenzy. We tried but had to rely on the locals generosity.

After a feed of fresh oysters, we sat down to this. Who said camping's tough.

Batman Bridge over the Tamar River

Other side of the Tamar River at Green's Beach

 Big tides down here.

Further along the north coast to Burnie.

Setting sun through the smoke haze of nearby bush fires

This little fella nested just near us.

Onwards to Stanley. We were moved on after a few days due to bush fires. They were setting up a headquarters there for all the interstate fireys. Smoke haze the only thing we have encountered.

Birthplace and childhood home of Joe Lyons, Tasmania's first Prime Minister.

Change of plans. Next stop Cradle Mountain National Park.
