HEADING NORTH - Roxby Downs, Andamooka and a heap of salt

Headed  out to Roxby Downs  located in remote far north South Australia.  A purpose built town to service the Olympic Dam minesite. Further out was the opal town of Andamooka. Roxby Downs was a well developed mining town and Andamooka was what you could call the opposite, but fantastic to visit. We are loving the changing colours of the landscapes.

 Checking out the campsite

Out to Andamooka

The in and out of the beer bottle vault.

They did it really tough in the early days

We ventured of the blacktop and headed out to Lake Torrens. The salt lake stretches for 250 kilometres Scenery was spectacular.

Heading back through Woomera and north along the Stuart Hwy, we stopped overnight at Lake Hart.

We were hoping to see "The Ghan" come through. Can't trust those train timetables.

Road on the way to Coober Pedy.

 Go the "Chookpen"

Currently bunkered down in caravan park at Coober Pedy with air cond on full. 42 degrees outside and the flies are plentiful. Looking forward to exploring the place when the weather cools down a bit.
