TRAVELLING THE WARLU WAY

Leaving Karijini we headed westwards towards the coast along the Warlu Way. Scenery still spectacular. Plenty of red dirt as we venture along some outback roads.

Onwards towards Karratha

It was good to get the sand between the toes at Cleaverville Beach.

Cossack is an historic ghost town 15 km from Roebourne. It was the first town settled in north west WA in 1866 and a major town site until the pearling industry move further north to Broome.

 Travelling towards Port Hedland........amazing scenery.

 Port Hedland lights at sunset

We left Port Hedland and headed out to Marble Bar. What an amazing place it is out there.

A few cows decided to visit the campsite

The elder member found this to be an amusing sign to be found on an outback dunny some 50 km from Marble Bar

We had a few beers, caught up with friends and a "heart attack waiting" pizza.

30 kms out of town was this abandoned secret WW2 airbase. You could still make out the runway, various buildings and where they used to camouflage the planes.
